Description for Deprecated Dataset:
Description for Deprecated Dataset:
Approved building permits for commercial buildings and multifamily homes. The PLANNUMBER column uses "BLDC" to indicate commercial buildings and "BLDM" to indicate multifamily homes. Building permits are issued to licensed construction supervisors and enable recipients to construct, alter, or demolish a structure or install a sign. The building permit must be obtained from Cambridge's Inspectional Services Department before the start of any work and must be prominently posted at the job site. This dataset includes building permits for the construction of renovation of commercial buildings.

Description
City of Cambridge, MA, GIS basemap development project encompasses the land area of City of Cambridge with a 200-foot fringe surrounding the area and Charles River shoreline towards Boston. The basemap data was developed at 1" = 40' mapping scale using digital photogrammetric techniques. Planimetric features; both man-made and natural features like vegetation, rivers have been depicted. These features are important to all GIS/mapping applications and publication. A set of data layers such as Buildings, Roads, Rivers, Utility structures, 1 ft interval contours are developed and represented in the geodatabase. The features are labeled and coded in order to represent specific feature class for thematic representation and topology between the features is maintained for an accurate representation at the 1:40 mapping scale for both publication and analysis. The basemap data has been developed using procedures designed to produce data to the National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA) and is intended for use at 1" = 40 ' mapping scale. Where applicable, the vertical datum is NAVD1988.

These median incomes were estimated in a two step process. Income related blockgroup data from the 2017-2021 American Community Survey was recompiled by the Cambridge Community Development Department to align with approximate neighborhood boundaries. Median values were then interpolated for each geographic area from the compiled distribution of incomes. All amounts reported in 2021 dollars.

Median sales prices for various type of residential properties based on arms length, market rate sales. The data used to develop median prices comes from records filed at the South Middlesex Registry of Deeds. City staff analyze the records to identify arms-length sales. Arms-length sales are real-estate transactions in which two or more unrelated and unaffiliated parties agree to do business, acting independently and in their self-interest. Statistics drawn from only arms-length transactions are thought to best represent the true value of a property and state of the market.

This data set combines information from eight sustainable building certification programs, including two City regulatory programs, to show the extent and location of sustainable buildings in Cambridge.
For inclusion in this data set, a building must meet at least one of the following criteria: receive approval from the City’s Article 22 regulatory process; receive certification from the Passive House program; receive certification from Enterprise Green Communities; or receive LEED certification under a LEED system that requires the whole building to meet sustainability standards.
Some buildings meet two or more of these criteria. Information provided about the applicable sustainable building programs for qualifying buildings includes certification levels, certification types, ratings, or scores. Additionally, this data set contains information about other certifications (ENERGY STAR, Fitwel, and WELL) that may apply to covered buildings. If a covered building participates in the City’s BEUDO regulatory process, this data set indicates that. More specific information about BEUDO building energy usage can be found in the separate BUEDO data set.
In this dataset, we use Cambridge GIS Building IDs as unique identifiers for certified sustainable buildings. Building IDs refer to one physical structure, even if there are multiple street addresses associated with that structure.
